Kate launched her own business Kate’s Kakes at the end of 2019 having no idea that Covid was just around the corner, like none of us.
She has baked so many amazing creations since then and enjoys trying new flavours combinations and ideas.
Her bakes include anything from tiered celebrations cakes, cupcakes, the most amazing brownies (my absolute fave!) cake pop truffles, scones and much more.
She has a real passion for gardening as well as baking so loves to bring her love of flowers into her baking too using the most beautiful edible flowers.
As well as being my Step Mother in Law Kate is also a very close friend so I am lucky enough to get to try many of her delicious creations!
When I launched Orchardlea Occasion Foods I hadn’t planned to do any sweet buffet food the plan was to offer all savoury options, but due to Covid I started doing hampers as I couldn’t supply buffet food.
Cream Teas became very popular during Covid and then the demand for other sweet treats to be added, having launched around the same time it was really exciting for both Kate and I with new businesses and to be working together.
Covid was abit of a shock for both us in the beginning not knowing how our new businesses would work but it was actually really busy and the demand for cakes and hampers to be given as gifts was really there.
Kate has done so many cakes since she has launched for lots of different occasions, birthdays, christenings and more.

I love working closely with Kate and supporting each others businesses, she has been a massive support to me since launching Occasion Foods and even helping out catering a wedding buffet for me at Powderham Castle in the Summer as I had to isolate due to having Covid, I was so grateful for her help and ensuring it ran smoothly.
